Two-year-olds and the adults in their lives explore language and numbers through stories and songs. Picture books, flannel board stories, and nursery rhymes are used to introduce the wonder of books. Please note that registration is required for each individual storytime.

Every Wednesday Matinee: Frankenstein (1931) with Special Guest Sara KarloffAdult Events 10/24/2018, 2:00 PM - 4:00 PM Main Library – Auditorium
Sara Karloff, daughter of Boris Karloff, will be visiting the Montclair Public Library to talk about her father, who starred in the films Frankenstein, Bride of Frankenstein, and Son of Frankenstein.
MPL will be showing Frankenstein as its Wednesday afternoon movie matinee. Before the feature, she will introduce the film with a special presentation. She will also be hosting a question and answer period after the screening.
Boris Karloff is recognized as one of the true icons of horror cinema, and the actor most closely identified with the general public’s perception of the “monster” from the classic Mary Shelley book, Frankenstein, which turns 200 this year.

Mother Goose is an excellent way to promote literacy among our preschool-aged patrons. Picture books, flannel board stories, songs and puppets are used to build upon children’s natural enthusiasm for books and reading. Each session will end with a simple art experience for little ones.

Book Buddies: with the Friends of the Montclair Public LibraryKid & Family Events 10/26/2018, 4:00 PM - 5:00 PM Main Library – Youth Services Dept. (3rd Floor)
The Friends of the Montclair Public Library’s “Book Buddies” bring children and volunteers together to share the joy of reading. Adult volunteers (Big Buddies) will be paired with children in grades 2nd, 3rd, and 4th grades (Little Buddies) for 45 minutes of shared reading at the Main Library.
Registration for Little Buddies is required for each session (registration begins Monday, September 24).
