On Wednesdays at 2 pm, Montclair Public Library hosts The Every Wednesday Matinee, a film series presented in its auditorium. In July 2019 we will be watching musical movies. The movies are as follows:
West Side Story (July 3) – Starring: Natalie Wood, Richard Breymer, Russ Tamblyn, Rita Moreno, & George Chakiris. A modern version of Shakespeare’s Romeo and Juliet, set in the Puerto Rican section of New York City. (1961, 152 minutes, Color)
The Sound of Music (July 10) – Starring: Julie Andrews, Christopher Plummer, Richard Haydn, Peggy Wood, Eleanor Parker. A tuneful, heartwarming story, based on the real life story of the Von Trapp Family singers, one of the world’s best-known concert groups in the era immediately preceding World War II. (1965, 174 Minutes, Color)
Hello, Dolly! (July 17) – Starring: Barbara Streisand, Walter Mathau, Michael Crawford, & Louis Armstrong. Comedy about a young widow who has become a matchmaker and is trying to find a match for a successful hay-and-feed merchant in Yonkers. (1969, 148 Minutes, Color)
All That Jazz (July 24) – Starring: Roy Scheider, Jessica Lange, Leland Palmer, & Ann Reinking. A theater director and choreographer tries to balance staging his latest Broadway musical with editing a Hollywood film he has directed (1979, 123 minutes, Color).
Little Shop of Horrors (July 31) – Starring: Rick Moranis, Ellen Greene, Vincent Gardenia. A nerdy florist finds his chance for success and romance with the help of a giant man-eating plant who demands to be fed. (1986, 94 minutes, Color.)Click here for more details...

Meet and read with Cruz, a retired racing greyhound! Greyhounds are the second fastest land animal (behind the cheetah) and can run up to 45 miles an hour. Now that Cruz is retired he enjoys walks, car rides, lots of naps and reading in the library.

An Astronomy AdventureAdult Events 07/25/2019, 6:00 PM Main Library – Auditorium
Learn about the latest discoveries in our solar system and beyond! See breathtaking pictures of all the planets, including Pluto and the moons of Jupiter and Saturn. Get a real “feel” for our place in the universe. Discover what we have learned about planets around other stars and the search for another Earth. Also, a description of the next missions to explore space!
Presented by Paul Cirillo.
Paul has been fascinated by astronomy and space missions all his life and enjoys sharing his knowledge with the public.
Paul is a board member of the New Jersey Astronomical Association, which operates the largest public observatory in New Jersey. He was also the founder of Somerset County’s 4-H Space & Astronomy Club and its leader for ten years.
He has a Bachelor of Science degree from Rutgers University and is an outreach “Ambassador” for NASA’s Jet Propulsion Laboratory.
Paul has an easy style of communicating, which allows diverse audiences to easily understand and enjoy his presentations on the wonders of the universe and how we are exploring it. His presentations always include the very latest astronomical images from observatories both on and off the Earth!
