On Wednesdays at 2 pm, Montclair Public Library hosts The Every Wednesday Matinee, a film series presented in its auditorium. In April 2019, we celebrate Shirley Temple. The movies are as follows:
April 3: Bright eyes — Starring: Shirley Temple, James Dunn, Jane Darwell.
An orphaned girl is taken in by a snobbish family at the insistence of their rich, crotchety uncle, even as her devoted aviator godfather fights for custody. (1934, 85 minutes, black & white).
April 10: Curly top – Starring: Shirley Temple, John Boles, Rochelle Hudson.
Wealthy Edward Morgan becomes charmed with a curly-haired orphan and her pretty older sister Mary and arranges to adopt both under the alias of “Mr. Jones.” As he spends more time with them, he soon finds himself falling in love with Mary. (1935, 75 minutes, black & white).
April 17: The little colonel — Starring: Shirley Temple, Lionel Barrymore, Evelyn Venable.
After Southern belle Elizabeth Lloyd runs off to marry Yankee Jack Sherman, her father, a former Confederate colonel during the Civil War, vows to never speak to her again. Several years pass and Elizabeth returns to her home town with her husband and young daughter. The little girl charms her grandfather and tries to patch things up between him and her mother. (1935, 81 minutes, black & white).
April 24: Little Miss Broadway – Starring: Shirley Temple, George Murphy, Jimmy Durante.
An orphan is provisionally adopted by the manager of a hotel populated by show business people. The hotel’s owner doesn’t like the entertainers and wants the girl returned to the orphanage.
(1938, 72 minutes, black & white).

The United Methodist Communities at PineRidge of Montclair, in collaboration with MPL and AngelaCARES, hosts a resource center for seniors in the library’s Senior Space. PineRidge of Montclair and AngelaCARES equip the space with resources and programs aimed at enriching the lives of local seniors. Senior Space programming takes place every Wednesday from 10am to 2pm.

May 1: Good morning, Vietnam – Starring: Robin Williams, Forest Whitaker, Tung Thanh Tran.
In 1965, an unorthodox and irreverent DJ named Adrian Cronauer begins to shake up things when he is assigned to the U.S. Armed Services radio station in Vietnam. (1987, 121 minutes, color).
May 8: Good Will Hunting – Starring: Robin Williams, Matt Damon, Ben Affleck.
Will Hunting, a janitor at M.I.T., has a gift for mathematics, but needs help from a psychologist to find direction in his life. (1997, 126 minutes, color).

A former radio DJ, who is despondent because of a terrible mistake he made, finds redemption in helping a deranged homeless man who was an unwitting victim of that mistake.
