The United Methodist Communities at PineRidge of Montclair, in collaboration with MPL and AngelaCARES, hosts a resource center for seniors in the library’s Senior Space. PineRidge of Montclair and AngelaCARES equip the space with resources and programs aimed at enriching the lives of local seniors. Senior Space programming takes place every Wednesday from 10am to 2pm.

Two-year-olds and the adults in their lives explore language and numbers through stories and songs. Picture books, flannel board stories, and nursery rhymes are used to introduce the wonder of books. Please note that registration is required for each individual storytime.

Every Wednesday Movie MatineeAdult Events 12/12/2018, 2:00 PM - 4:00 PM Main Library – Auditorium
On Wednesdays at 2 pm, Montclair Public Library hosts The Every Wednesday Matinee, a classic film series presented in its auditorium. In December 2018, forgotten Christmas classics will be shown.
The movies are as follows:
December 5: Christmas in Connecticut – Starring: Barbara Stanwyck, Dennis Morgan, Sydney Greenstreet. A food writer who has lied about being the perfect housewife must try to cover her deception when her boss and a returning war hero invite themselves to her home for a traditional family Christmas. (1945, 101 minutes, black & white).
December 12 Holiday Affair – Starring: Robert Mitchum, Janet Leigh, Wendell Corey. A young widow is romanced by a sales clerk whom she inadvertently got fired. (1949, 87 minutes, black & white).
December 19: It happened on 5th Avenue — Starring: Don DeFore, Ann Harding, Charles Ruggles. A homeless New Yorker moves into a mansion and along the way he gathers friends to live in the house with him. Before he knows it, he is living with the actual home owners. (1947, 116 minutes, black & white).
December 26: All mine to give – Starring: Glynis Johns, Cameron Mitchell, Rex Thompson. In this fact-based drama set in the 1850s, the Eunsons move from Scotland to the American Midwest, where they live happily and run a successful business, until the untimely deaths of both the father and mother. Now orphaned, the six Eunson kids must fend for themselves. Robbie, the
oldest, does his best to care for his siblings while he searches for foster parents kind enough to accept such a large family into their home. (1957, 103 minutes, color).

Enjoy six weekly Paw Patrol & Top Wing related reading and activity programs for young children. Each Wednesday* at 4pm children can come to the Library and enjoy a different program centered on different themed “mission.” The program is sponsored by Nick Jr., includes giveaways, special sweepstakes, and runs from November 5 through December 19 (*no session on November 21 due to early closing).

African American Book Discussion GroupAdult Events 12/12/2018, 6:30 PM - 8:00 PM Main Library – Conference Room (1st Floor)
The group was started by Ronald Murphy and Harold Bell in the early 1990s. Titles, selected by members and the group’s facilitator, focus primarily on African American subjects or by African American authors, as well as recommended and popular titles. Mother Goose is an excellent way to promote literacy among our preschool-aged patrons. Picture books, flannel board stories, songs and puppets are used to build upon children’s natural enthusiasm for books and reading. Each session will end with a simple art experience for little ones.
