Let’s Listen to Jazz: Eric DolphyAdult Events 11/16/2018, 6:00 PM - 7:30 PM Main Library – Auditorium
Join Seed Artists and our resident musical guru, Peter Bodge, in a monthly series of old-school listening sessions exploring the many facets of jazz. It’s simple: We’ll listen to some great music curated by Peter, talk about it over refreshments, and maybe make some new friends. It will be casual, conversational, and fun. And you’ll walk away with the curated playlist from the session, an extended list of recommendations for further listening, and a list of suggested reads.
Our Let’s Listen curator, Peter Bodge, is a walking jazz encyclopedia, a drummer, an arts educator of more than 40 years, and an accomplished visual artist. His jazz portraits hang in the Smithsonian Institution and in the collections of some of the world’s most famous jazz musicians. As an instructor at Cambridge College in Massachusetts, he teaches jazz history, critical thinking, and a course that teaches teachers how to bring creativity into their classrooms. His nickname: BeBop.
Listening sessions are funded in part by a grant from the Essex County Department of Parks, Recreation, and Cultural Affairs as part of their Essex County Local Arts Grant Program.Click here for more details...
