Every Wednesday Matinee
On Wednesdays at 2 p.m., Montclair Public Library hosts The Every Wednesday Matinee, a classic film series presented in its auditorium. Below are the veterans films being screened this November:
The Roaring Twenties (November 2) – Starring James Cagney, Humphrey Bogart and Priscilla Lane. Three men attempt to make a living in Prohibitionist America after returning home from fighting together in World War I. (1939, 106 minutes, B&W)
The Men (November 9) – Starring Marlon Brando, Teresa Wright and Everett Sloane. A paralized war veteran tries to adjust to the world without the use of his limbs. (1950, 85 minutes, B&W)
Key Largo (November 16) – Starring Humphrey Bogart, Edward G. Robinson and Lauren Bacall. A war veteran finds himself in a deadly fight against gangsters who have taken over a hotel during a tropical storm. (1948, 100 minutes, B&W)
The Bridges at Toko-Ri (November 23) – Starring William Holden, Grace Kelly and Fredric March. Set during the Korean War, a war-weary World War II fighter pilot must leave his family to fight again. (1954, 102 minutes, Color)
The Razor’s Edge (November 30) – Starring Tyrone Power, Gene Tierney and John Payne. This tale centers on a soul-searching World War I veteran who finds he can not settle back into the world of the upper class. (1946, 145 minutes, B&W)
