foodpanelMontclair Public Library and Watchung Booksellers present an author panel in celebration of the Montclair Food & Wine Festival. Join us for an afternoon of Jersey writers dishing up their takes on food, the local restaurant scene and the food writing industry. Introduction by Montclair Food & Wine Festival’s Melody Kettle, President Emeritus & Founder, and Diane Biancamano, Vice President & Executive Director.

The panel will be moderated by David Galef, creative writing program director at Montclair State University. He is the author of over a dozen books, including the novel Flesh and the short story collection My Date with Neanderthal Woman. Panelists include the following authors:

John Holl is the editor of All About Beer Magazine and author of both Dishing Up New Jersey and The American Craft Beer Cookbook. A journalist since 1996 and based in Jersey City, his work has appeared in The New York Times, The Wall Street Journal, Washington Post, Wine Enthusiast, and many other publications. He’s judged beer competitions around the globe, regularly lectures on craft beer, and appears often on television. He is also co-host of the Steal This Beer podcast. Find him on Twitter @John_Holl

Deborah Smith is the founder of JerseyBites.com, an online magazine with a Garden State foodie focus. Launched in 2007, the site is home to more than 30 food writers and welcomes more than 50,000 visitors every month. Jersey Bites engages with over 30,000 fans daily on Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest, and Instagram. Smith served as a founding member of Jersey Shore Restaurant Week and most recently as a judge for Jersey Shore Restaurant Week’s Taste Awards. Over the years, she has served as a judge for numerous food competitions and been invited to speak about food in New Jersey both live and on the air. Deborah was born and raised on the Jersey Shore. She currently lives with her family in Point Pleasant Beach, New Jersey.

Allison Fishman Task is a cookbook author and a TV and web host. Her books include You Can Trust a Skinny Cook and Cooking Light Lighten Up America. She was also the host of TLC’s Home Made Simple, Lifetime’s Cook Yourself Thin, and traveled the country for two years as host of Yahoo’s food and travel show, Blue Ribbon Hunter. Today, she is a personal coach and owns Montclair-based Allison Task Career & Life Coaching, where she helps writers, entrepreneurs and parents realize their aspirations. A native of the Jersey Shore, Rachel Weston is a food writer, chef and culinary instructor. She is committed to helping people understand their food system and how to make seasonally inspired meals for their families from foods produced locally.
