Open Book/Open Mind Series: Author & New York Times Columnist Charles Blow
Charles Blow’s critically acclaimed memoir, Fire Shut Up in My Bones, deals with many of the same themes as his New York Times Op-Ed column, but in a highly personal, lyrical mode that lays the author’s soul bare. Says Alice Walker, “[This memoir] digs deep into territory I’ve longed to read about in black men’s writing: into the horror of being submerged in a drowning swirl of racial, spiritual and sexual complexity, only to somehow find oneself afloat.” The memoir becomes the launching point for discussion. Signing follows. Interviewer to be announced.
