Open Book/Open Mind Series: Author & New York Times Columnist Charles Blow

Date: Sun, 05/31/2015
Time: 4:00 pm
Location: Main Library - Auditorium
Categories: Adult Events

Charles Blow’s critically acclaimed memoir, Fire Shut Up in My Bones, deals with many of the same themes as his New York Times Op-Ed column, but in a highly personal, lyrical mode that lays the author’s soul bare. Says Alice Walker, “[This memoir] digs deep into territory I’ve longed to read about in black men’s writing: into the horror of being submerged in a drowning swirl of racial, spiritual and sexual complexity, only to somehow find oneself afloat.” The memoir becomes the launching point for discussion. Signing follows. Interviewer to be announced.

Due to registrants rarely canceling, the Foundation will not maintain a wait list for this event. However, there will be approximately 40 seats left open in back that are available first come, first served.
