Friday, December 8 will be Nutcracker Day at MPL.

“Tchaikovsky’s Nutcracker Suite is a wonderful holiday tradition. We are celebrating that tradition and our community with a wide array of activities, including two screenings of George Balanchine’s The Nutcracker,” says Library Director Peter Coyl. This 100-minute, Lincoln Center version of the classic features 275 New York City Ballet dancers, including Justin Peck and Megan Fairchild.

This is the line-up of events:

11:00am  Nutcracker Day Dress-up Storytime
Children and their adults will enjoy a story, make a costume and do a little dance. Learn more.

3:30pm Kid Friendly Screening of The Nutcracker
This first screening of The Nutcracker will be a kid-friendly show with crafts and treats. Learn more.

5pm Ballerina Talk & Demonstration
A group of young ballerinas will come to talk about performing The Nutcracker Suite and demonstrate some of the dances. Learn more.

6pm Classical Concert & Screening of The Nutcracker
Classical concert featuring Russian and German selections followed by the final screening of The Nutcracker at 7pm
