Small Business Boot Camp @ MPL May – June 2017 Published on: April 18, 2017

During the months of May and June, MPL will be hosting a number of events geared toward local small business owners. These informative talks are designed to showcase a number of resources available to local small business owners through various county and statewide organizations, in addition to workshops led by local experts and consultants. NJ Division of Taxation & Small Business Administration Workshop
05/08/2017, 10:00 am – 1:00 pm, MPL Auditorium
Don’t miss this instructional workshop designed to educate small business owners, taught by NJ Division of Taxation representatives, Mike Kovacs and Rachel McGovern. Jennifer Krottinger, BusinessOpportunity Specialist at the NJ District Office of the Small Business Administration, will also be on hand to give a presentation on federal contracting information, requirements, eligibility, and certification for small business owners.


Essex County Office of Small Business Development and Affirmative Action Workshop

This seminar, taught by Deborah Elaine Collins, Esq., is an overview of the resources and services provided by the Essex County Office of Small Business Development and Affirmative Action, including tips on winning a contract with the County of Essex and an overview of the bidding and RFP processes.


Improving Time Management and Delegation for Small Businesses

Come learn about all the wonderful resources Montclair Public Library has for our local small business owners! John Daquino, Information Specialist at Montclair Public Library, will go over databases such as Reference USA and Small Business Reference Center, in addition to the library’s print holdings.


Business Law for the Small Business Owner

Legal issues abound in business. This seminar will help the small business owner understand some of the more day-to-day business issues they might face and how to successfully protect their small business and when they should seek the services of a legal professional, taught be a SCORE (Service Corps of Retired Executives) representative.


New Jersey Small Business Development Center Workshop

The New Jersey Small Business Development Center (NJSBDC) is the recognized leader in delivering management consulting and training programs to nascent entrepreneurs, start-ups and existing small businesses as well as specialized and more advanced services to high-impact, growth-oriented businesses. Attend this workshop led by Dr. Tendai Ndoro, Regional Directory of Rutgers-Newark SBDC, to learn about the various services they provide to local small business owners.


Introduction to the Small Business Administration (Counseling, Capital, and Contracting)

The Small Business Administration (SBA) serves entrepreneurs nationwide through its programs and has targeted resources for women, minorities, veterans, and boomers. Come learn about access to capital, training, counseling, resource partners, doing business with the federal government, certifications, and more in this overview of SBA, presented by Jennifer Krottinger, Business Opportunity Specialist at the NJ District Office of the Small Business Administration.
